What are the 4006 pistols in 90% plus condition with 4 factory magazines selling for in your area , the pistol has the after market S&W Case plus manual, please mention you state also , Thanks

About $700 in Ca because of the stupid handgun roster. What hurts the value is the .40 caliber. Not many people want that caliber (even though I think it is a good caliber). Another factor is da/sa guns aren't in vogue anymore. Most want the latest striker fired plastic *** in their safe. I went the other way and traded a M&P 9 full size for a 645. To each their own but remember this. There is no way you could today manufacture these guns with the same craftsmanship and materials and sell them as affordable pistols in today's market.

Locally (Midwest) on the exchange market you see them for $400 give or take, at the gun shops they are priced closer to $450 but they tend to sit on the shelf for a log longer than other used guns. For whatever reason the Novak sight version sells better than the adjustable sight version (opposite of my preference).

4006 with the accessories and condition you speak of, I'd say $400 tops. I picked up a 4046 TSW the other week in qreat shape, 4 mags, for 325 FWIW

Several have sold in MA over the last year at $450+Tax regardless of number of magazines or box/no box. One went for $425+Tax. Doesn't seem to matter if adjustable sights or fixed sights.

I feel I overpaid a bit for mine ($450+Tax). It was a consignment gun and the owner was stubborn as heck. While it is in great condition, it came with no box or papers and, I believe, not even a spare magazine. But I had waited so long for a Model 4006 that it didn't matter. Of course, since then several others have appeared... in one case two at a time.

Fortunately, pre-ban 11-round .40 magazines are not too expensive or hard to come by in my area.

Seems like no one informed Beretta, Sig and CZ that their handguns (DA/SA) are no longer in vogue and much to expensive to manufacture let alone sell to someone in a retail setting.

From what I've seen online, since I rarely find a nice 4006 in a LGS, 4006 prices have dropped a bit from what they were some time back when people were really hot after them. It seems that what sold quickly for $500 a year or so ago may set for a while or not sell at that price at all. Something in the $400 to $450 range now seems to be the upper limit for a nice 4006 with box, papers, etc.

Not certain what changed, but sometimes there is no explaining fads or trends.

If you consider a $1000 sig or $700-1000 Beretta affordable compared to what these 3rd gen smiths are selling for on the free market then you don't get what i am saying. I am saying to make these guns again (in full stainless, no or very little MIM, stainless mags, made in America with a lifetime warranty) and sell them for a competitive or the same price as a M&P, Glock, XD, etc. would be impossible. Factor in now that even NIB they are a dang steal let alone used at $300-$500. As far as what is popular right now it is def. not DA/SA pistols. If you look at sales more people are buying polymer striker fired over alloy or steel framed da/sa autos. Check out the LEO sales. An estimated 60% or more of the market is dominated by one company alone in LE.

What I am saying is you are in the golden age of 2nd and 3rd gen Smiths and you should snatch as many up as you can before people realize how good they really are and how cheap you can get them compared to how much they cost to build and how long they last.

Here in the Southwest, the LGSs and pawn shops would have a hang-tag of $499 on a really nice, non LEO 4006. It could probably be had for less.

Back in early 1990 I read an article in Guns & Ammo magazine about this "new" pistol built around the new cartridge. I just had to have one. I ordered my pistol and waited and waited for it to come in. I'm still the happy owner, but look what I paid for it in 1990 money. I suppose I should have waited 26 years to buy one!

Wow... That was some big bucks in 1990. Yeah, I love mine and I feel your pain.

Well, first off notice that it appears to be a sale made in Canada apparently using Canadian dollars. In 1990, a Canadian dollar was equal to about 85¢ American. Next, subtract out that hefty 8% sales tax... and you come down to an equivalent pre-tax US price of $709.75. I'm not sure about any import duty or other tax that Canada might have assessed back in 1990.

Coincidentally, that's roughly what an "unfired-new-in-box-with-all-paperwork" Model 4006 would sell for today in my area. Plus you could probably get even more money for it on that certain large firearms auction site.

Of course, we can now look at inflation and the shrinking value of both the Canadian dollar and the US dollar. Using various government indices, that $709.75 becomes somewhere between $1,284.65 and $1,334.33. Let's call it $1,300.00.

So what does a full-size stainless steel .40 go for in today's market? One good comparison might be to the Beretta 96FS INOX... street price between $600 and $700. Beretta's newer, fancier models go for more.

On the other hand, the Sig P226 Elite Stainless .40 is nutty expensive at $1,396.00 list. True average street price is hard to find because "Sig" and because there are relatively few out there for sale... but I'm guessing something well over $1,000.00 for sure.

With 2 factory mags $295

In Ontario Canada with all of our tax's added in it now around 13% on top of the dollar difference. Thats why I don't have my new S@W model 627 as yet. At least they finally dropped our gas prices down somewhat and are not totally gouging us anymore on it. Its around 82. a litre at the moment here. 4.5 litre's to one gal for us up here.

In 1990 Purchased 4006 for $760 with 3 mags, guess thats comparable to the Canadian price in 1990. I used it as a duty weapon for about 3 years before changing depts and going to sig. Has sat in safe for the last 20+ years with the obligatory check and cleaning every so many months. It was and is a fine weapon, just considered heavy compared to todays alloys and plastics.

Bud's brick and mortar store (KY) had police trade-ins not too long ago for $350, no box, 1 mag. The 1st ones were pretty nice condition until they got picked clean.

I know those are 4046 but they also had 4006. However the vast majority were 4046

How about a little reciprocity? What state are YOU in, and what's the asking price on the pistol ?

BTW, I just saw a pretty clean 4013 with one mag, on one of our classified sites, located outside Atlanta,Ga., asking price was $375.
