Default CCI AR Tactical 22lr

Does anyone have any experience shooting the cci ar tactical 40gr. round nose in your SW22 Victory? I saw some on sale and wondered if I should buy them for the Victory. It looks like it would work OK to me.

Not a Victory but I have some and fired them out of a Spikes Tactical .22lr upper and they shot reasonably well for me. It was a while back so I can't recall the accuracy but since I wasn't turned off by them I assume that it was sufficient for the range.

My local GS had it on sale by the case for less than 7 cents/round. I usually shoot Federal Auto Match in my plinking .22 semi autos (rifle or pistol) with great success but this stuff caught my eye. Given it's CCI and has nearly the same specs as the Auto Match (but with a plated bullet), I'm figuring it can't be too bad in the reliability department. I wonder about the specificity of the "AR Tactical "designation in the title though. Seems silly. Why would they do that?

p.s. Ended up going with a case of the Auto Match (which I know runs in everything I own.) for the same $.

I have used hundreds of CCI Tactical in my Victory. No problem.

CCI rates these slightly less powerful than their CCI Mini-Mag. Actually, the main difference is just the shape of the bullet to feed easier in AR's.

I have shot a lot of them through a Ruger MKIII target and they run fine. I think they say that they are optimized to run in semi automatic firearms. No problems for me.
Peace,
Gordon

Default CCI AR TACTICAL 40 gr. Round nose.

Well I have gone to the range 2 times after I purchased the 2 bricks, and have shot them all in my Victory and my Ruger10/22 LR. Not one problem in either gun. (600 total rounds). Now I know if I see them available at a good price I will buy them.

The first box a bought (about two years ago or so) was a roughly square box with 200 loose rounds.

The one I picked up last week was a flat box with 300 rounds in a plastic holder. Just like the Troy Landry "Choot Em" mini-mags used to be packaged.

Do they print the velocity on the box? Most .22's now produced are over 1200 fps, which I'm guessing is the minimum reliability velocity for semi-auto's. Standard velocity, which "Used to" always be the most accurate was rated around 1080 fps if I recall correctly. I guess the object is to find the most accurate ammo that will also most reliably function in your gun. Maybe that's why a lot of us use revolvers a lot.

Field & Stream has the AR Tactical for a decent price. It looks just like the Mini-Mags to me. Wouldn't it be okay to use it in my M&P Compact 22?

Shouldn't be a problem. My GSG 1911-22 didn't care for the Tactical for some reason; but I've shot plenty in a half-dozen other semi-autos. I've got 6 boxes of Tactical and Choot Em(300 ea) so I hope my Vic likes them(I've been shooting mostly AutoMatch, Win Western and Browning BPR with some MiniMags mixed in).

We have a new Field and Stream opening in a couple of weeks...will be interesting to see the prices!

I've been shooting AR Tactical's out of my 22C with no problem. The only thing you have to deal with is the wax build up. Otherwise a good round except maybe for the price.

I'm pretty spoiled on prices now. Even MiniMags/Tactical will have to net under 7 cents a round to get my attention. Bulky stuff must be closer to 5 cents, since I've got a decent stash at this point. I put the Fed AutoMatch just a notch below MiniMags and similar...for my range purposes. I'm down to two boxes of those, so somebody needs to 'shoot' us a deal!!!
