I wonder how long bolt stops on his N frame cylinders hold up?

Amazingly fast work!

16 shots in 4 seconds.

Amazing!
I'd do well to get 4 shots in 16 seconds.

1.57 reload (shot to shot). Now that's impressive!
First time I was SO with one of the revolver masters that reload under 2 seconds, on a Bianchi barricade, 6 right, 6 left, my first thought was "12 shot revolver? When did he reload?"
Revolver matches are pretty much won/lost on reloads.

Miculek is a machine. Great feat and video.

the man is still the best revo man on the planet. he is the reason i got my 327 PC gun and plan on using it to shoot combat at our local club! awesome...

Outstanding shooting!!

We shot an ICORE match here in Iowa this morning. Many of us were shooting 627s with 8-shot cylinders made of stainless. The prevailing ammo used was .38 Short Colt brass loaded with bullets ranging from 135gr to 160gr. Fast powders such as Viht N310, N320, Titegroup, or Clays with around 3.0 grs of powder.

The key factor is bullets are either jacketed or coated and conical shape enhancing faster reloads.

When speed shooting with stainless cylinders, the bolt stop notches will begin to peen and raise a burr. If the burrs are large enough they cause the bolt to skip a notch(or more). The titanium cylinders are not only lighter but harder and tend to peen much less.

We're all looking forward to owning and shooting 929s. Needless to say ammo availability for 9mm is better than .38 Short Colt brass.

but he still has to rotate 8 rounds of 9mm, that can't be too light.

8 rounds of loaded 9mm is 3.37oz.
6 rounds of loaded .45 is 4.50oz.

So 8 rounds of 9mm weighs about an oz less than 6 rounds of .45 ACP. Titanium is also ~60% of the weight of steel. Lastly, 8 bored holes for 9mm drill out ~18% more material compared to 6 bored holes for .45 ACP!

Going by all these material facts, the titanium cylinder with 8 rounds of 9mm will be less than half of a steel cylinder with six rounds of .45 ACP.

Thanks to Waywatcher for putting solid facts into this discussion. To carry on with his thoughts, I have installed a titanium cylinder in one of my 625s which I use in USPSA action shooting. The original stainless cylinder was showing serious burrs so I switched them over. The difference is dramatic with 230 gr hardball ammo.

Miculek is a freak of nature!!! The fact he's no spring chicken makes this even more impressive!

Jerry Miculek

Mr. Miculek's allegedly incredible speed is easily explained: He's from another planet and on his planet, it takes him 45 seconds of earth time to shoot the drill but due to Einstein's Theory of Relativity, it's a mere four seconds here on earth.

Ahhhhh! That explains it! Thanks.[emoji2]
