What were the design changes specific to the 17-5? Are they common guns? I found one today and put a few dollars down to hold it.

It has a 6" barrel (no underlug), target stocks (nice grain), target hammer, target trigger, box, papers, sight tool, anti-rust paper, and is in fantastic condition (no obvious wear or damage, but a turn ring).

Price was $475+tax after a little haggling. Sound good?

"The last design change for the Non underlug Barrel Model 17 Masterpiece series came in 1988. This series was called the 17-5 series and in 1988 a new Yoke retention package and radius stud were added. In 1989 The Model 17 Non Underlug Barrel K-22 was discontinued for the model 17-6 series."

Quoted from another source...hope it helps.

17-5's are not rare. I've owned several myself and still own one. Very nicely appointed and fit for the most part.
YOU DID GOOD! Enjoy it.
p.s. Post some pics!

Thanks. I'll definitely post some pics when it comes home.

Good? An excellent condition K-22 with 3T's, box and papers, OTD at a little over $500? Sounds great!
