Just purchased a new Smith and Wesson 1911 SC Bi-Tone. Read really good reviews on line. Anyone on this Forum own one. If so, would you please share your opinion and experience with this gun. Thanks

Had one for about a year now and love it. Probably only 400-500 rounds fired but no failures of any kind with all ammo. It's a little tougher on my hand than my 5" but that is only due to the reduced weight/little more recoil. I just got the Master Series C/T grips for it. It is my winter carry gun.

Reliable and great looking...how good can it get?:)

That is definately the most attractive 1911 of the "E" Series.

Went to the range today and fired my first 50 rounds of Federal 230 grain. Absolutely no malfunctions and the gun proved to be very accurate. This is one of the best looking 1911's I have ever owned.

Bought the TA (stainless) first. Then had to have the SC. Both guns are great. Only issue I had was with the TA, sloppy grip safety. Sent back to S&W and repaired. The TA is crazy accurate. The SC is close.

I've had mine for about a month. Great pistol. So far has been flawless with 185 Gold Dots. I agree it's one of the best looking 1911's I've seen.

Has anyone else had an issue with the grip safety on the E series?

I got my SC-E black finish about one year ago and have been very pleased with it in every way. I shoot mostly home cast HP 200 grain lead bullets with no problems what so ever! I carry it frequently. Can't think of anything I'd change on it either.....

I have one... shoots low and left. A common problem with the bobtail SC. S&W shipped earlier guns with the wrong front site, and didn't figure it out until over a year into production.

I haven't sent mine in yet, as I am overseas now.

Interesting. Mine does not shoot low or left but exactly where I point it. I guess I must have the correct front site.

Cremaly, the grip safety, and or the sear spring seemed "sloppy" not a lot of tension and rattled a little. I didn't notice it till I bought the SC and it had quite abit more tension. Not tight, but, solid with no rattle. I sent it back to S&W and they fixed it. More tension on the sear spring. Took about three weeks from the time I shipped it out till it was returned. Very pleased with it now.

kydeer: Thanks for your response. Glad mine does not have that problem but sounds like S&W made it right.

There are threads about it on the 1911 forum. I purchased mine in October 2011. To get it to hit the center of the target at 15 yards, I have to make a pyramid out of the sights and shoot about 4 to 5 inches to the right. We bench-rested the gun, and it was much the same. Others confirmed the same issues, and S&W was taking returns for new front sights.

After lusting after one for more than a year, I got one for Xmas from my wonderful wife. :)

She shoots like a dream, and has become my favorite carry gun.

I have one and right out of the box I shot it great, makes me better than I am LOL.

I have fed both ball and hollow point, no issues at all. Never a single FTF or FTE.

And it's PRETTY!!!

Every woman needs one....Just sayin
