So my wife (god bless her) overheard me cursing gunbroker because my bids for a 1950 vintage 3.5" Pre-27 factory fired only beauty were getting smoked. She opened her own account (I wouldn't give her my phone) and got in a bidding war. She ended up paying an exorbitant amount for it. Not sure if I'm happy or sad? Hoping some of you can give me your best guess at it's value in todays market so I know which to feel, happy or sad! Thanks - Mike

She must love you. The high price she paid means she loves you a lot. That is priceless. Just smile and be happy.

I was looking for a good bolt 22. My FFL mentioned some. I Bid one a bid more than I really wanted too. Turned out the other guy was my FFL bidding because he knew I wanted one. LOL

Wooo boy flowers had better be on the way at the minimum! Probably some hardware in the form of jewelry is more like it! Looks like you have a keeper....and the gun is pretty nice too.

Off the top of my head I'd say you can get 2500 to 3k all day for that with letter and box/tools. Probably more in today's world.

Sounds like I'm going to be sad, I had bid it up to 3500, she went higher, a lot higher :(

I was following it on GB and so I know what your wife paid for it. But Pre-27’s in that condition do not come along often, especially in 3.5”. That gun looks like a long time keeper safe queen to me, so unless you were planning on flipping it for a quick profit or wearing it out at the range, I see no reason to be sad.

Gift of the Magi....
She bought it for you because you're too cheap.....JK.
Shut yo mouth then go tell her how awesome she is.....enjoy your present and remember all that money in the bank when your walking the streets in the afterworld will be worthless.

Well, they don't come any prettier. Probably impossible to upgrade that package. On a side note, I have S77886, also a 3.5 inch, which shipped on 9/26/50; shipped only two weeks before yours but over 2000 serial numbers apart. Enjoy it!

The gun is awesome and congratulations but it pales in comparison to the person who bought it. Your a very lucky man on multiple levels. My hats off to your bride for taking matters into her own hands in order to do something special for you.

Can I say it?
O. M. G. ......Period.
Well, I think you better take her on a cruise (if there's any money left, of course.)
That is one spectacular firearm. "The" most desireable pre- or model-numbered .357 barrel length, IM not-so-humble O.
And I did a little looking at the other bidder while perusing your gun on GB. Seems like he has spent a ton recently, and I'll bet he was PO'ed to lose this one. (He bought 2 Model 48s just in June for about $1200 apiece.) Oh, and your Mrs. got a nice little user name, too. Has that "High Roller" sound to it. :D
Well, congratulations on your double-score... a wife that "gets it" about buying and owning fine firearms and a great example of S&W artistry in metal. Enjoy! (And don't forget that cruise!)
