I have read several opinions about revolvers and 22lr. I have no idea round count on this revolver. I love old Smith revolvers. Guys that made it are probably gone. I may be weird, but I like the smell of burnt rimfire gunpowder. Memory lock to childhood??
Possible causes for DA trigger lockup:
a. carbon buildup on the cylinder face and forcing cone.
b. failure to fully release the booger hook.
c. cases are proud at the ejector star. Very foul cylinder chambers??
d. revolver out of time. Gun passes the standard test(s) for timing.
e. worn cylinder stop or cylinder notches.
So I totally disassembled and deep cleaned. Back dry. Grease and excess oil just attract dirt. I am trying to divorce myself of the slather it with oil methods of "protection".
All parts appeared to be as factory. Bubba has not been there with his mill ******* file and a tire tool to the screws.
So before I go try it out, should I forsake lead and just shoot plated bullets? Any other tips / opinions as to cause and remedy greatly appreciated.
Bubba did vibro etch a 6 digit number on the right side plate. I managed to draw file and hand sand 5 away. 1 must remain because dung for brains etched over the logo. 2000 grit polish and cold blue looks 100% better.
Well keep on popping caps and support gun control: hit what you aim at.
THANKS!!
