That's what I want to know.

If it's marked a 19-2, its a 19-2; isn't it?
One of the earliest 2.5" M19's I have seen is marked "
MOD-19" instead of:
MOD.
19-2
Model 19's are four screws so could this be the only three screw, 2.5" Model 19 ever made or is it a 19-2 that just got mis-stamped "
MOD-19"?

You just gotta love S&W!

IMO the importance is in the revision not the Model stamp,
If the revisional change from the 19-2 to the 19-3 was the relocation of the rear site mounting screw then a 19-2 with the -3 screw revision is actually a 19-3,
Perhaps we can agree to call it a 19-3 that was mismarked as a 19-2 ?
Same way a 3 screw 19-2 mismarked as a 19 is actually a mismarked 19-2 and
a 19-5 with the -5 landing off the frame is still a mismarked 19-5.
Also technically "Pre19's" that shipped without being model marked after the implementation of the Model marking sytem are technically non Model marked 19's not "Pre 19's".
