Very nice! What a great find. It's really hard to beat a model 19 in any configuration, but I especially like those shorties.

That's what I want to know. ;) If it's marked a 19-2, its a 19-2; isn't it?

One of the earliest 2.5" M19's I have seen is marked "MOD-19" instead of:

MOD.
19-2

Model 19's are four screws so could this be the only three screw, 2.5" Model 19 ever made or is it a 19-2 that just got mis-stamped "MOD-19"?
You just gotta love S&W!:) =QUOTE]

IMO the importance is in the revision not the Model stamp,
If the revisional change from the 19-2 to the 19-3 was the relocation of the rear site mounting screw then a 19-2 with the -3 screw revision is actually a 19-3,

Perhaps we can agree to call it a 19-3 that was mismarked as a 19-2 ?
Same way a 3 screw 19-2 mismarked as a 19 is actually a mismarked 19-2 and
a 19-5 with the -5 landing off the frame is still a mismarked 19-5.

Also technically "Pre19's" that shipped without being model marked after the implementation of the Model marking sytem are technically non Model marked 19's not "Pre 19's".

FWIW K709707 is a 19-3 that shipped Feb. 1968
Now that's a Model 19 I'd like to see!!

Talk about a frame that got forgotten.

Does it have the -3 rear sight leaf screw?
Hadn't even seen a 19-2 with the -3 RSLS below K778 (and that's a slower shipping 6") before now and a SB marked -3 before the K8's.

Wow that would be VERY low for a dash 3 !
The SCSW has the dash 3 changeover listed as 1967 but I have not seen one that early yet,

My highest dash 2's are 19-2's in the K778,000 from 1967 and my lowest dash 3's are in the K850,000 range from 1969 .

Im especially interested in nickel guns from that era as they should still have blued front site ramps that are pinned to the barrel.

Gotta love a 19. I have a 19-3 6" and a 19-6 4". Been looking for a 19 snubby but have not come across one yet. Did pick up a 66 snubby to hold me over.

Well I needed my glasses

Sorry for the false alarm but K709707 is in fact a 19-2.:o
