I just purchased a 25-5 rated at 97 condition. I haven't been able to load a picture but would like to know about what they are worth. Thx.

The right buyer just might pay $1,000 for a 4 inch N-Frame chambered in .45 Colt. "$800 or so" can't be far off.

At last weekends gun show in Round Rock TX I spotted 2 4" 25-5 that were 98%~99% in original boxes with papers and tools. One was an N serial from 1981 with a pinned barrel while the other was an Alfa Numeric from late 1985 with bar code label.

Both were at $1500 and sellers not budging off that.

EDIT:I see a lot more with longer barrels than the 4" and very few these days in 98%+ condition in original boxes with papers and sealed tools.

This four inch dash 5 is for sale here in Denmark. The price is around $1400. Looks to
be in pretty decent shape. Too bad about the German proof mark or bad spot on the
left side of the barrel, or whatever it is.

I got it from a long time friend that got it from the original owner. He never shot it and the original owner put less than 20 rounds thru it. This thing is a beauty. I think 97 condition is conservative.

Nice looking gun and my favorite big bore.

Thing about the 45 colts, especially the older blue guns, is that there were not that many. Least of all the 4" guns. If it was in good shape I wouldn't think $1000 was out of line at all. I doubt you would get one on Gunbroker for less than $1200.

I see it is a pinned barrel. Might have large throats, but if so it will shoot fine with .454 lead and .452 jacketed. Its a problem I think many worry about to much. Even with large throats most of them will shoot better than most people's ability. If you shoot a 45 colt much you need to reload and if you do loading the bigger bullets is no problem. Some one recently brought up the need to run a suitable seating die because some are tight enough to bump the bullet down in size while seating. Might take a little bit of messing around, but well worth it IMHO.

Sir.
I have an old finish worn, well used, 25-5, 4 inch. It does not have the original grips, the trigger has been polished smooth, and it probably has the over sized throats. My gun may even have a few scratches on its backside from being used to polish a rock or two. It is just not really too much of a gun by some of todays standards. Might be worth 400-500 in this condition. Might take a desperate buyer to pay even that much.
A 97% gun with all the right pieces should be double of my old banger. There are plenty of folks that would like to buy a 97% 25-5, 4 inch. They are getting hard to find.
