This weekend I aquired a 15-3 with 2" barrel. Otherwise a standard gun, it has a serrated trigger. According to the SCSW, these came with a smooth combat trigger and there in only one instance of a serrated trigger reported.

It dates to 1968 and appears to have had some smithing done, but a trigger change is not what would fall under the usual class of work. It does have what might be an ID number stamped on the inside of the yoke which might indicate law enforcement background but does not show holster wear.

Just curious, & add to database if it is a legitimate gun.

Thanks for the response. I have re-reread the SCSW, and it is not really clear if the reference is to non-dash Model 15's or even pre Model 15's.

The 2" satisfies my inner Junior G-Man and will join my 14-3 and 4" 15-3 as well as the K22 I have owned for 60 years now.

Don't read too much into triggers, hammers, grips/stocks, or numbers. The first 3 are easily changed by anyone with a couple tools. Other than the serial number, anything else that's in the yoke or on the grip frame are usually just assembly numbers.

Wow, Your talking my favorite "K" frame. I have unsuccessfully tried to pick one up on the usual auction sites, but it seems I am not the only one who would like to add one to his collection. What I have encountered is prices for the M15 2" to be in the $650-750 range for a 95% with no box so I am putting this desire on the back burner for now.

My 2" nickel 15-3 has a serrated trigger. That line in the SCSW may be incorrect but I don't know. Mine also has RR/WO sights which I've never seen before so I sent for a letter. I'm thinking it was a special order but time will tell.

I bought an unfired 4" M15-3 ten years or so ago from an estate consignment. It had the grooved trigger face. I don't like the striations, so I had it smoothed and radiused. It was a keeper, not for resale.
