2023 Ford Mustang Mach 1

Someone suggested renting one and trying it out. Maybe Sunday isn't the day for doing that. Unfortunately, I think finding an actual Mach1 for rent near me is probably impossible, but I would think that a GT would be possible. Not the same, but it would give me some idea of what the Mach 1 would be like.

I called a few places without any luck, only frustrations. I called Enterprise, and got a woman with an accent making it extremely difficult to understand her, and unfortunately she got me, and was probably saying that I was extremely difficult to understand. Anyway, I explained to her that I was wanting to buy a Mustang Mach 1, and was curious if they rented high performance Mustangs. She said that she would check and asked what day the rental was for. I explained that I could do it ANY day. So she tried one of their local locations for Wednesday, and said it was available.👍 I was confirming the details with her……..Mustang GT, Wednesday, etc., when she said that the car would be a Mustang or similar car! I reminded her my reason for wanting ONLY a high performance Mustang, and crickets. After banging my head on the wall, she explained that they couldn't guarantee a Mustang, only a Sports Car. So……..maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

I thought renting a certain vehicle would be easy since my date was not set in stone. I'm sure if I was in Atlanta or Charlotte, it would be a piece of cake! But, I don't live in Hooterville either.

I bet you could find something close to what you're considering. You might have to drive a ways to get to it, though. No personal experience with them, but they look interesting.

I tried renting a performance Mustang around here without luck.
Have since test drove a GT and a Bullit at dealerships and they both are nice, quick little cars.
Wish used car prices would go down a little as I just do not like the '23 dash instrument panels at all.

Well, unfortunately the dream has come to an end.:( I was looking online at 2 cars. By coincidence, they were both Jet Fighter Gray in color, one a new 2023 at a fairly local dealer and the other a 2022 with 501 miles that just became available at a dealer about an hour away. They were similarly equipped with the Appearance and Elite packages, and the 2022 also has the Handling package, so it is fully equipped.

I needed to run an errand today that would take me very close to the local dealership so I decided to stop by and take a look.:) I pulled into the lot and parked, then saw the Mustang parked just outside the front entrance of the dealership. As I was walking by the entrance, a salesman came out and asked if I wanted assistance. I told him that I wanted to look at the Mustang, and he said he would get the keys. As I was standing beside the car and admiring it, it roared to life as the salesman started it with the fob. It sounded AWESOME!!:D I explained to him that the first thing I wanted to do was to make sure that I could fit comfortably into the car. He said that he didn't think that there would be any problems. I got easily and was comfortable, but then another thought came to me. The Mustang sits very low.

Ever since my radiation treatments that I had for my cancer, I lost most of the strength in my legs and it hasn't, and won't, get any better. All of a sudden it hit me that I might have a difficult time getting out of the car! I had never even given that a thought before. I got out, but it was very hard for me to do so.:(

So like I said that dream is done. Y'all will probably think that I screwed up because I didn't even take it for a test drive, but I figured that it would have been harder on me if I did, because I know it would have been amazing! There will always be other dreams, just not this one.

Sorry to hear of your leg strength issues. I have to ask, though. Did you do the "Sportscar Twist?" Get in by facing to the left and sit your rear into the seat; then twist to the right. Reverse that when getting out. Twist to the left so you're facing directly to the side. Lean forward (to the side of the car) and stand up.

May people use a "side-sitting" motion and try to get out in the same way. I used the Sportscar Twist even as a kid, and still do today. Some cars - Corvettes in particular - have your butt inches off the ground.

The "sportscar twist" is the only way I can get in/out of wifey's Nissan.

That and I have to remember to nod my head way down. Chin hitting chest as I swing in. Even then I sometimes forget and slam the back of my head against the top door jam/opening. Bad words soon come out!

Big truck, no such problem.

Yeah, gettin old sux!

Had to quit the motorcycle thing. Legs go numb after about 30 minutes. Lower back hurts for days after a short ride.

Sad as once retired was going after some long distance touring. Rode long distance when I could while working. Now I have the time, but it's a no-go.

God is good and pointed me toward training dogs and benchrest rifle competition in my retirement. C'est la vie.
