21 foot rule

The idea is to NOT get hurt, not to die and take the bad guy with you.... ;)

And you have to keep in mind that you may get a shot off, but real life isn't like in the movies where if you shoot the bad guy crumbles and falls down. No, you may shoot that little .44 dry and the bad guy just keeps plunging that knife into your chest.

Not trying to start a war, just something to think about.

That is why I carry two revolvers, not one. If I shoot both dry and he gets me its my time to go. I trust my reaction time and my intinct not to allow a BG to get close enough to do me. I also do not plan on sustaining any physical assault of any kind before drawing and firing. I am in a good state, Texas but ii I should be convicted in such a case, a life sentence is not a long time for an old man like.me.

Can you draw and fire in 2 seconds? Can you draw and move and fire in 2 seconds? If an attacker is twenty feet away when perceive him as a threat, you stand a good chance of not getting cut, if you don't freeze. Big IF. A round in the chest tends to disrupt anyones plans, whether they have heard of the Tueller Drill or not. Practice and training is the real definitive difference, rather than distance. Given a choice, I'd take 20 ft. Over 10 any day.
