using a rest from 30 feet. Ammunition was .38 Special Speer LE Gold Dot 125 Grain GDHP rated at 865 FPS, so the guns were not stressed at all.
As you can see the results were nothing to brag about…..
The blue KCPD Reg Mag has the Baughman Quick Draw front sight and square notch rear sight. The gun was factory sighted in at 50 yards using .38 Special mid-range wad cutter ammunition with a dead center hold. Using a 6 o'clock hold I shot it 6 times with 2 in the red, 3 in the 10 ring, and the 1 at 12 o'clock in the 9 ring. I shoot this gun pretty well for me.
The nickel McColl, SC PD Reg Mag has the McGivern Gold Bead front sight and "U" notch rear sight. The gun was factory sighted at 25 yards with Magnum ammunition using a dead center hold. Using a dead center hold I shot it 18 times with 3 in the red (the large hole in the red was 3 hits), 1 in the 10 ring, 6 in the 9 ring, 4 in the 8 ring, and 4 missed the rings altogether.[emoji38] For some reason I have a tendency to pull this gun low and left as you can see, even though I was using the dead center hold and concentrating on using only the pad of the tip of my trigger finger. I love the feel of the factory fitted stag grips on this gun but I'm wondering if the slightly non-symmetrical shape of the grips might be affecting my pull on the trigger. I'll keep working with my hold and trigger finger placement to see if I can move those low left shots to the center. I don't want to mess with adjusting the rear sight as the small screw slots are pretty much unmolested.
Anyway, last Wednesday was a beautiful day for shooting in the West Virginia mountains, and I get to wear things there that don't go over too well here in the Northern Virginia suburb neighborhoods of D.C.[emoji38]
