25-2 with unrelieved cylinder?

Have you tried the auto rims at minimun trim to length? the reason I gave you that advice is I had the same problem and returned my gun to S & W twice before we came up with this solution. I bought it new and it did not chamber untimmed auto rims from day one.

Remember with the 25-2's the full moon clips from the later 625's will not work. The ratchet on the ejector star is smaller. I found out the hard way. Also concerning the 45 AR cases, double check the case lenght and DO NOT get disscouraged. These are GREAT guns and very accurate with the right loads. You will love the revolver once you learn its little quirks. Let us all know how youre doing with her.

Half Mooners to the rescue!
I paid a visit to my local reloading supply and he had 6 half moon clips. As you can see they work just fine. Thanks again for all the input folks.

Just when I thought I found the solution.......
The half moon clips are no longer being manufactured! I lost an Ebay auction for 6 of them today, they sold for $51.09...ridiculous.
Now for the good news...
I purchased some RIMZ 25 clips from Brownells and they are the key! I don't know if these are the same that Jim Kalsem was referring to, but they only needed a little sanding with an emory board to fit perfectly. They can be loaded and unloaded by hand without tools or discomfort.
I am hopefully putting an end to this dilemma once and for all, and ordering some more of them. They are made by Beckham Design if anyone is interested.

With the full moon clips you show, there are two styles I think, for older and newer guns.
I use a metal full moon clip in my 25-2 and 625-3 with no problem. If the half moon clips are working for you it may be more of a clip problem than a gun problem. (I hope)

Thanks Joni, it may be an ammunition issue as well. When I got the metal full moons, I loaded one clip and it fit great so I loaded a few more and couldn't close the cylinder. I went back to the first clip I loaded and it would not fit either! They seem to be very touchy and I could get them to fit sometimes and then they wouldn't again.........aargh! The plastic ones worked every time, so I'm going with those.
I just ordered some .45 auto rim ammo from Cor-Bon, so we'll see if I indeed have a problem cylinder.

Whahoo! My .45 auto rim ammo arrived today and I'm happy to say there are no issues with it.
The cartridges fit perfectly and the cylinder closes. Thanks to everyone who shared their ideas in this thread.

Hi new member here.
I have had a 25-2 for many years. When I first tryed half moon clips I found the clips would not clear the cylinder retention button at the bottom rear left on the frame opening. The cylinder would also jump over the button when even slight pressure was applied towards the rear when the cylinder was in the swing out or open position. I had the retention Button replaced
