i also want to put a bird cage on the end of the non threaded barrel should i risk a set screw option or spend a lil more $$ and get it threaded properly??

also i wanted to put the magpul ambidextrous sling mount on the stock but not sure if it will work with the .22??

no 25rnd mags in CA as far as i know.

spend the money and get the barrel threaded proper

the Magpul ambi mount is not compatible with our rifles. Check out Midwest Industries line of clamp on buffer tube attachment points for a viable option. MI has several different neat options that work well.

thank you!!

i have heard that i can buy it outside of cali like cabelas in reno and bring it back....if i just want to go plinkin can i get arrested or anything like that if i'm at a range or buddies land...?

Illegal is illegal regardless where you bought it. The very least that might happen is you lose your permit AND your gun. I'm not too sure about the flash hider but I'm thinking that I read somewhere that they're illegal too in California but I could be mistaken.

25 round mags are illegal to possess (unless you had it before 1/1/2000 but that's impossible),sell, or bring into CA. Flash hiders are perfectly legal in CA. I have one from True Shot Technologies with set screws and it works perfectly fine.

you are learning one of the many downsides of residing in the Peoples Republic of California...I love living in the good old Midwest--no waiting period, state-wide concealed carry ( if you pass the class) and ammo sold at my local CONVENIENCE STORE!!

just buy a bunch of 10-rounders off 44mag.com and go have some fun!

44.mag will also break the 25rounders down as rebuild kits and send them to you for like 2 bucks. You can posses the kit and assemble it when you're out of state when you come back you take it apart. I don't know what happens if you get busted with a assembled 25rnd magazine in CA but it's not worth it. I bought 5 mags for mine, seems to last a little while at least. We're not as fortunate as our eastern comrades.

The bird cage is completely legal here in our republic. Some forum members here perform the service for a modest fee. Contact tacticool22 I think I've read that he does it.

Can you have a high capacity fixed magazine in CA? I recall seeing a magazine release button that required a tool to detach the mag making it legal to do other stuff like having a pistol grip on an ar.

Check your State laws. There are specific exemptions for the .22 rim fire. Our threaded barrel end will allow you to put on any end of barrel device threaded 1/2-28.
We also have restrictors for the 15-22 25 round mags that block them to 10, 15 or 20 rounds. They can also block the 10 round short mags to 5 rounds for the States that mandate that quantity for hunting.
We also have a sling swivel stud that replaces the big ugly sling loop in the stock. We will have a picatinny mount sling swivel stud soon.

Don't confuse centerfire and rimfire laws in Kalifornia. The assault rifle law explicitly exempts 22 rimfires like the 15-22. However, the 10 round mag limitation is just that for all guns - unless you had legally purchased high capacity mags before the law went into effect. The 15-22 came along after the 10 round capacity law went into effect, so 10 rounds is it.

The mag release tool you are referring to has to do with the current assault rifle law not allowing a detachable magazine if you have some of the other attributes that make a rifle an "assault rifle". Of course, none of the rifles we are talking about are actually assault rifles (select fire semi-auto/full-auto), but that doesn't matter to politicians.

Just a thought, I know some laws are different for fixed mags, im so glad I don't have to worry about that stuff here.

It doesn't matter if it's a fixed or detachable clip, 10 round is the max whether it's rimfire or centerfire (unless you had it before 1/1/2000). The only exception is if it's a tubular fed .22.

It seems that being in possession of a hi cap mag is not a crime in itself, how you get one is the issue. I guess you can always plead the 5th and make the prove how you acquired it, but I don't think they had these clips before the year 2000, did they?

Here is the best pic I found. I don't care if lay people call things by the correct term or not. It just shows their level of knowledge/understanding. From that point on, you have an idea of how much weight their opinion merits.

basically it breaks down to this--you live in California you CANNOT POSSESS A 25ROUND MAGAZINE WITHOUT A PERMIT

if you choose to break the law then you will have to deal with the consequences--Just because we dont agree with the law does not mean we just get to ignore it...just my $.02

I am not aware of any permit process for a 25 round 15-22 mag in California. I was under the impression that only LEO's could buy 25 round mags - for their own use. Can you tell me about the permit process? thanks.

"I was under the impression that only LEO's could buy 25 round mags - for their own use."

If that is true then this is applicable;
"Tyranny is defined as that which is legal for the government but illegal for the citizenry." ~Thomas Jefferson
and this too
"The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first." ~ Thomas Jefferson
