27-2 3.5" .......Custom Combat style....PIC HEAVY

Wonderful work!
Please, if its not a trade secret, share with us what process you used to groove the backstrap.
Reason I ask is that I've got a RB 28-2 that Bubba started and I've sort of brought back from the brink.
A grooved backstrap would finish it up nicely.

I'm not a fan of the RB conversion but the rest of the metal work looks superb. Excellent job cleaning up the marred finish.

I just keep coming back to look at pics again. At first glance looks like a 24-3 to me. That is really a great conversion project you and Dad did. Well done .

No secret. Dad used a metal checkering file. Started with 1 line and worked his way across a line at a time. Once they were started he just made them deeper until they appeared factory. Biggest challenge was keeping lines straight as he worked the curve. Slow an steady....

Beautiful work. It must be great to be able to take on the challenge of creating such a fine custom combat revolver and have such outstanding results.
It's fortunate that your dad is there to help you and I'm sure that you appreciate what he does for you. Don't take it for granted. Make sure that he knows how much you appreciate his help.
I say this because my dad was a great craftsman and helped me a lot. I don't know if he knew how much his help meant to me and he's now long gone and sorely missed.
I don't know that my kids appreciate the stuff I do for them.

Nice save! I'm guessing you don't have a lot of money into it either......regardless, this type of project is very rewarding. And the result is outstanding! I am with SP on round butt conversions, but there is no criticizing the outcome!

I can't think of anything to say that hasn't already been said...so I'll just say congratulations and leave it at that.

Wow, Dan, I have looked over and over and I feel badly that you
will most likely NEVER sell it to me!!! I will pay shipping, too!
I didnt know your Dad had these talents and I wonder if he will adopt me and I can be your older brother.

Seriously, kudos and more kudos to both of you
Thanks for sharing

I suspect the number was scratched into the blue and not deeply into the metal. Polishing a refinishing removed all trace of it.

Only troglodytes would crudely engrave a gun that way.
