Hi guys

Im posting this on behalf of a relative. She inherited this beautiful S&W 270. I know its a very rare gun. Can someone please give us an indication on its value? It's never even had more than 100 rounds through the barrel.

Thanks, be safe all.

Your relative has a serviceable rifle, not a rare or particularly valuable one.

It isn't a rifle that interests collectors.

That's not to say it isn't a good hunting rifle: it is.

Most used hunting rifles (non pre-64 Winchesters) are worth less than you might imagine.

Lots of comparable contemporary rifles are available and many first time hunting rifle buyers are drawn to 'new' as opposed to 'used' with no better reasoning than 'new is better than used'.

$400 is reasonable for a quick sale. $650 is possible if you advertise properly, display the rifle to a broad audience and are patient.

The scope and mounts are the features that may help sell the rifle and bring the prices noted above.

sorry to say that it isn't a valuable rarity, more of an oddball. like was mentioned it was basically the same action as the Howa 1500, Weatherby vanguard, Mossberg 1500, they are great rifle but a new one can be had for about $400. the scope adds value to it and the stocks on the S&W models are very attractive.
If listed on one of the auction sites i would suggest a minimum of 400 and a buy it now of 600. that gives everyone a decent improvement on value.
