Maybe someone can school me on this one. I have owned two 29-2 revolvers, and after I get through a couple hundred rounds, the ejector rod begins to loosen up. This makes the gun lock up and you have to tap the cylinder to open it. Then manually tighten the ejector rod in. That is why I am looking for something in the 29-4 range. I believe S&W corrected this on later models. Is there a later model where S&W changed this?

Fox, I think you just need to tighten the ejector rod properly. You can find that information, as well as a wealth of other useful tips, here:

But, here's what I do: remove the cylinder from the gun. Place some empty cartridges in the cylinder to prevent the ejector from trying to rotate, and stressing the locator pins (don't want to shear those off, no, no, no). Place the rod in a vise with a leather pad, and just hand tighten by turning the cylinder. Remember, it's a left hand thread. Do not over-tighten, those are fine threads and can easily be damaged.
You may want to strip the cylinder assembly down (as shown in the FAQ) and make sure everything is clean and undamaged before attempting to tighten it up; in fact I would recommend a good inspection if this is a recurrent problem for you.

Use BLUE Loc-tite, not red or green. With the blue stuff you can get it back apart if needed.
