Picked up my G20 the other day just for some variety and to have a semi auto, mag fed hand cannon. However lately I've gone away from carrying Glocks and M&Ps (polymers) to carrying all steel guns, namely my Smith 5946. Its about 40oz of stainless steel 9mm with a 17 round capacity. Oddly enough I find it more comfortable then my G19 due to its slimmer design. Good belt and a good holster make the weight a non issue. Anyhow, today I stumbled across a police trade in Smith 1006 in 10mm. Traded in my BHP that I couldn't get to run right + some $$ and here she is.

Sorry don't have a pic of the G20.

Carried it all day today in a crossbreed holster. Although it weights in at about 50oz I still find its shape to be easier carried then the lighter but bulkier G19.

I own several Glocks, but no G20. I do have a a S&W 1006, 5946, and a BHP. I agree the S&W's are heavy, but they are a weapon even when empty, like a baseball bat. All are fine guns. Magazines are costly and holsters are not so common for the 1006, but not impossible to find. Try Lou Alessi for a holster.

SWEET! Nice snag, you wont be disappointed. I have a 1006 too and I absoulutely love it. I found a OWB holster made by Bulldog cases. ITs their molded leather (size large) and my 1006 fits in it pretty nice. I found it at a LGS and picked it up for only $20.00. buldogcases.com. The only drawback I have found with my 1006 is the availablity of decent ammo at a reasonable price. Other than that you've got a fine "hand cannon" there.

The holster im using at the moment is a IWB crossbreed crossbreed for the 59xx but the 1006 seems to be right at home in it. I will eventually get a specific holster for it

Max you're really gonna hate me now. Just found a 1066! They're asking $650 but I couldn't do it. :( spent too much money this week. The guy did say its been there for a while and no really looks at it. Maybe it will still be there in a week or two!

Arik I really hate you now!;) Just kidding, congrats on finding your 1006! If you happen to locate another let me know ok? Dale

Nice find! I had a 1006 once, but the danged thing was so heavy! It felt heavier than my 4" 29, so I sold it. I replaced it recently with a 1076 and it doesn't have near the perceived weight of the 1006. They're all great shooters though! Enjoy yours!

CONGRATS!!
1006..One of the best, most pleasant shooting gun i own!
Cost of ammo only drawback...

Nice. You can never have too many 10mm's. I'm planning on buying a G29 next week. Must resist......

Once you catch the 10mm bug, resistance is futile. My 1076 is mostly a range gun now (due to the weight), while I carry my Glock 20SF on duty and 29SF for backup.

You know, I carried the 1006 for the second half of Saturday and all of Sunday and I find it more comfortable the the G19! Odd but it is what it is :)

Been thinking about it. Then at last weekend's gunshow in Berea, I saw a 1026 at a table. No price tag. I asked. $1100.00.

And that wasn't even in great shape. I think I will hold off. Good luck on yours though.

Ouch! That's waaaay too expansive. I know where there is a 1066 for $650. Good condition, 1 mag. Ive been debating on buying it but I cant spend more money on guns since Ive been on a little buying spree lately besides I need more ammo first. If youre interested let me know.
