I have a LNIB model 669. It has the factory "pebble" grips on it. I recieved this 669 from my ailing father. Back in the late 80's I purchased it for him when he told me he wanted to try a high capacity 9mm pistol.

The trigger is gritty in DA. It needs some work.......or to be shot some as it has not seen more than a box or two of ammo through it.

My questions are as follows. Did Pachmayr make any grips for this 669? I want some grips that will cover the sharp corner at the rear of the bottom of the grip frame. Hurts my hand when shooting the gun.

What about replacement sights? Any NS made to fit the existing cuts in the slide?

Does Karl Sokol work on the 2nd gen pistols? I think he works/worked on 2nd gen 645's at one time. This 669 needs a professional action job. Thanks for the assistance! Regards 18DAI

I saw some references to cracked 669 frames on a few gunboards. The threads I came across all seemed similar - as in they may all be from the same original poster. Are frame cracks an issue with the 669? Also, does the 669 use the same recoil spring as the 39XX series guns?

The 'sharp edge' shouldn't bother you unless you are 'teacupping'.

Research current grip procedures. Leave the stock stocks intact, (or send them to me :) )

Sight options:

Trijicon SA05 fits the existing cuts same as on the early 6906 without the Novak's

You can also make an adjustment and stick the Novak on there without any trouble.

A little wizardry on the milling fixture and...presto:

Gritty DA pull:

It's likely the surface of the hammer causing that. the forward facing radius above the hooks bears against the sear during the DA pull.

If not too rough can possibly be stoned smooth. Too much stoning can cut through the surface hardening though. If it's really rough like those middle two hammers, I would probably replace the hammer.

Grips?

You might try a Hogue grip sleeve to cover up that sharp corner. The Pachmayr leaves that spot expose same as the factory grip.

Cheers
Bill

Uncle mikes and Pachmayr both made a rubber grip. The Pachmayr is a one piece that wraps around the front, the Uncle Mike's are separate panels (next to impossible to find) but I like them better. I have and have owned several with never a frame problem. Wolff springs along with the polishing make a huge difference. Millet sights ebay)

There's a 669 at the LGS with the Pachmayrs on it. I was wondering if they might have the original grips. They were short handed because of the huge amount of snow we just got (well, 12" is huge in Central KY) so I didn't fondle it. I think it was listed at $389. I could see through the glass it needed cleaning up. But I was tempted. Anyway, aside from my ramblings on, they DO make the Pach's for it, or did at one time.

Love to see a picture of Dad's 669.

I have a pair of Uncle Mikes grips if interested. I only used them once to try on but basically new in box. I would be willing to sell. Say $30 bucks plus ship.

Thank you all! :)

Thanks all!

BMCM as always EXCELLENT info and photos! Thanks so much! Since this is a range only toy......perhaps an heirloom.......of sorts, I may try my hand at working on it - a little. ;)

1775usmarine thanks for the kind offer, but I have a pair of the Uncle Mikes. I ordered a set of Pachmayrs last night that I think may work.

If I shoot it this weekend I will try a Glock sock on it. Thanks again fellas! Best regards, 18DAI
