Recently came into my gun shop... Pretty pleased. I think the finish is original, grips maybe refinished. I'm not sure. Any thoughts on the finish and stocks is appreciated. I just haven't seen enough of these old guns to know for sure. Thanks for any input.

Agree with Daniel, it looks original and just used enough so you don't have to feel guilty about taking it out to the range. Enjoy!

I don't know where your store is, but it must be a very "attractive" location. You sure attracted a great one there!!! Congrats.

Just a "hole in the wall" in Maine. I try to let the locals know I have a soft spot for Smiths and they have been coming in on the regular. I put them in my cases with prices too high for them to ever sell.:D

I agree that this example of an early "baby" Chiefs Special looks to be entirely original. A great find, and a keeper for sure.

Here's mine, which is serial numbered quite close to yours. They probably both shipped in 1951.

Put them in your safe if you are only going top ask unapproachable prices. I am glad I don't go to your shop.
;)

Lighten Up.... He was just kidding.

I go to his shop regularly. Great deals to be had there. Bought a 4 screw Model 28 from him just yesterday. Great guy to do business with.
