I was fortunate to be able to purchase a 66-3 with a 3 inch barrel from Chris Andersen on the Forum a few weeks ago. It had very nice target grips. At the gun show this weekend I was able to acquire some Craig Spegel grips from my friend Tim O'Laughlin. They are now together. Thanks to both members. This is a grail gun for me. I've requested a letter but believe this gun was part of a 250 gun shipment to RSR in 1989. Please enjoy.

Good catch..... bought two 3" 66-3 in 1988 ... from a distributor in the Harrisburg Pa area.. fire sale after a year on his shelves.... $270 out the door with a action job.

Currently have three; two -3s and a -4 I got used around the turn of the century.......... all wear Spegel Boot grips!!

Edit: see you got the "Extended" Boot grips on that gun... for me Boot Grips for three inch barrels or less.. "Extended" for 4" or longer....

My friend it doesn't get any better in a carry .357!!!!

I've looked and looked and then stopped looking and still couldn't pick one up. 270?? I hate you.
I'm gonna send a 2.5" to Throne arms along with some parts and have them make me one. Of course, two days after I get it.....

Don't want to hijack thread but I have a question. I have 2 three inch 66's. One is AHL (which I believe is Ashland) and the other is BBN. Can I infer that my second 66 is from RSR?

I'm guessing since my gun and your gun are both BBN that's true. The Ashland guns were 66-2. The RSR guns were 66-3.

The Ashland are -2s and IIRC are all AHL

There were also several smaller runs of -3s and -4s ...... my -3s went to a distributor around Harrisburg Pa. 1987-88

Congrats!

My 3" (Ashland) was my workhorse for many years. My favorite revolver.
