I have a chance to buy some new 308 brass.
It is head stamped with a "RA". I cannot find anything on this
brand. Anyone know who the manufacturer would be?
Any information would be appreciated.

It could be one of two, most likely.

Either "A/S Raufoss Ammunisjonsfabrikker, Raufoss, Norway" or "Remington Arms Co, Bridgeport, Ct."

If it is Norwegian it should also have the NATO cross headstamp on it. It is supposed to be very good brass.

If just plain RA without the NATO cross I would go with Remington Arms.

That my 2/100ths of a dollar worth on this one.

Remington also made NATO brass with the (+). But it was usually dated with the year also.

What is the full headstamp?

At one time, Remington marked its military contract ammo with "RA" and the last two digits of the year of manufacture.

Thanks for all the replies.
I just called the guy that has it for sale and it is marked RA and some has a circle with a cross through it. Some is marked 60 and some 64.
Is this worth buying? 18.00 a hundred.

That is US GI ammo loaded by Remington Arms.

I do know that a lot of the RA 69 was Tracer ammo.

OOPS you said new.. Need to read more carefully..
This may still be worth passing along

I doubt that the current owner knows it's origin but if it was shot through an M-60, pass. I picked up 500 from Midway back in the day of "free shipping" and even after two passes through a small base sizer die, still had problems.

I think that I may pass on the brass.
Being that old and not knowing the origin of it for sure, I think that I will probably buy new brass or once fired that I know has only been fired once.
Thanks for all the information.

I have reloaded a bunch of brass that was fired in a M 60 using standard RCBS dies with no problems.
