OK, the OGCA show was today. Wandering around aimlessly, as always, I stumbled upon a display with "stuff", and the high spot was 32-20 components. The guy had a box of bullets he wanted $300 for, and a couple of bags of virgin brass. As in hundreds per bag. I was sorely tempted and its not the kind of thing you see every day, or every gun show. In fact, its the very first time I've see such a thing that I can remember. But it was early in the show, and common sense dictates you never purchase anything heavy with that far to walk. So we exchanged pleasantries and continued walking.
About an hour later, it came to me that there are known scoundrels on this forum and other places that might slip in underneath me and score my rightful stockpile. So I asked my son if he felt up to a trip out to the car. He agreed and back we went.
After a proper amount of lying and card playing, we arrived at a price. I'd pay his $300 for the bullets if he'd toss in the bags of brass. He didn't want the stuff, so he agreed way too fast. Means I didn't drive a very hard bargain after all. On his I phone my son calculated 2000 x 100 grains equal 200,000 grains, divided by 7000 per pound resulted in a tiny little box that weighs over 28#. He hoofed it out to the parking lot while I visited with David Carroll and inspected his K22 he bought from Lee. Being old and decrepit does have its advantages.
And if my calculations are correct, I've not got a lifetime supply of .32-20 stuff. Adding in my 1000 plus cast gascheck bullets, I'm pretty well set!
Life is good. I need to find my Lee priming tool and maybe get busy.
If anyone needs 32-20 brass, the guy has over 1000 cases in big ziplock bags, and will sell them reasonable (he said). The prices I saw was just under $100 for the bags of 400, but he was flexible. After he gave me his email address, he begged me not to post it on the open forum. So if you need the goodies, I'll give it out over PM.
