CB, it sounds like we're twin brothers of different mothers. I was, in fact born in Richmond nearly three quarters of a century ago at the old Stuart Circle Hospital. While I grew up mostly in Lynchburg, I've maintained many connections with Richmond, including with Green Top. Like you, my first dealings with them were in the old "big" building.
Back to the subject of this thread, reloading in 32 long is easy. I have both the Lee Loader and the Lyman 310 for this caliber, but they are both long discontinued, and although they work great would be an expensive proposition to acquire now. OTOH, if you already load other metallic cartridges, adding a set of 32 dies and a shell holder is relatively painless. I've had Lee, Lyman, and RCBS over the years and all worked great. With that little case, it's hard to go wrong! I would strongly suggest getting the Lyman cartridge checker to make sure your finished product is to spec. It's easy (for me at least) to get a round that won't chamber... they're so easy to load, I tend to get lazy (or careless
).
As for bullets, are powder coated bullets allowed @ the GT range? I haven't started doing it yet, but a lot of guys over on that casting forum where they can't spell seem to think PC bullets are great. I'd be lost if I didn't get to cast most of my bullets. Once I did pick up a bag of 100 or so plated 32 cal bullets that run about 100 grains or so. I found them at a gun show somewhere and they were cheap enough I picked them up out of curiosity. They were in an unmarked Zip Lock bag, so no clue who made them.
Like you, I've gotten a little long here, so I'll quit now. Happy New Year and I hope to see you @ Green Top.
