I have started getting an interest in the .32's--specifically magnums but know absolutely nothing about them.
When did S&W stop making them?
Does anyone else still make DA/SA with 5/6 inch barrels.
What models did S&W make.
I see some advertised but they seem to be gold---Is this a normal thing or are shooter still available.
As I said---I know nothing about this.
Can we talk?
Blessings

The K frame 16-4 in .32 H & R Magnum was made 1989-'92, expensive. The 331 and 332 J frames were made from 1999-2003, not seen frequently. along with the 631 Kit Gun and (earlier) 632. There are currently two J frame model 632s in .327 Federal Magnum with 2 and 3" barrels.

My daughter's S&W #331TI. No lock on this one. I put the pink stocks on it for her, keeps me from carrying it.

327 federal magnum is now available and will fire all 32 cal cartridges. Taurus has just discontinued manufacturing them and they are available at bargain prices from Bud's, J&G Sales and Cheaper than Dirt (under $300 for all models and all barrel lengths).
S&W is making them too and they are rather pricey (all with 3" barrels to my knowledge.).
But in line with what you asked about at a decent price is Ruger's offerings. You can get a SP101 for about $424 (which all have 3" barrels) and for somewhat more you can get a GP100 with a 4" barrel.
I bought an sp101 and a 2" barrel Taurus because the price was too low to resist.
You can shoot 327 fed mag, 32 H&R mag, 32 long, whatever you want. Very versatile diet.

The 32 H&R magnum was introduced back in the mid 80s if I remember correctly. It was introduced by Harrington & Richardson in their budget priced revolver to duplicate standard 38 Special performance. Pressures were kept low because their revolvers were not the strongest out there. Not long after Ruger chambered it in the SingleSix SSM, a centerfire version of the little 22 rimfire. That is one that I wished that I had. In 1990 I had the pleasure of picking up a S&W 16-4 6" for me, and a 631 4" for my wife. The 631 is dressed up a bit with factory rosewood grips from a LadySmith. We had a hankering for adjustable sights that the LadySmith lacked. The 16-4 is one of the easiest shooting, most accurate revolvers that I have had the pleasure to shoot. I've taken jackrabbits out past 150 yards, and ground squirrels out to 100 yards. The kit gun is a pleasure to shoot. I'm not sure that I would want to part with either.

You are correct, the 32 magnums are crazy in prices. However, you can find good prices on the model 431 and 432 with a 2 inch barrel.

Gunbroker has a 432 auction number 248710705

If your looking for a K frame then expect to spend above $800. Also the model 631's are going in the $800.00 zone.
I would suggest you buying a model 632 in .327 federal magnum. They are available and will fire 327,32 mag, 32 long and 32 short.

I own two .327 Smiths and like 'em.
I want to get a longer barrel--to get that loud crack away from me---and for better accuracy.
I will keep looking---might even cosnsider just a .32 long with longer barrel.
Why in blazes do my taste run to champagne when all I can afford is beer?
Blessings

I would like champagne but must settle for beer as far as .32 mag is concerned. One day, I will stumble on a used S&W H&R mag or 327 fed mag at a good price and snap it up.

I lucked up on a Model 16 in 1992 new in box. My only problem with it is that my wife likes it so much she has taken it over and I rarely get to shoot it...

That's what I thought about an original S&W K-32. It never happened. In the first place, they didn't make many. I was always behind the price curve.

When the 16-4 S&W's hit the scene, I immediately bought one (I had previously bought a Ruger Single Six and a Smith 631 with 4" barrel). My 16-4 has a 6" barrel. I later picked up a Ruger SP 101 with 4" barrel.

I hope you do manage to find a 16-4 but you'll be one lucky feller if you find one at an affordable price.

I treasure my .32's and often shoot them.

Well, thanks Dale, I hope that I find one. My experience has been that if I decide that I will have to pay a high price for something that I want and then go ahead and pay it, a bargain comes along soon after.
I have an sp101in 327 fed mag and a Taurus 327 (I had a local gunsmith do trigger jobs on both)to pacify me while I wait for a nice Smith to turn up in a pawnshop or from a local private owner.
I know that they will always be high online.
By the way, my real name is-

Dale

Oh Boy Oh Boy Oh Boy!!! 32s. Now yer talkin'. I do like the 32s and have been adding to my collection as often as I find a deal on one.

I just bought a 631 from a member here just a little over a week or two ago. Got it for $650 including the shipping. All I ever see is $900 for this gun. I was really pleased to get it. I went and bought leather and made my first holster. That was fun.

At this time I own 2 single sixes with adjustable sights, a 431PD, and the above mentioned 631. In 32 S&W long I have a model 31 4", model 30s with a 3" and a 2" barrels. The 32s are an addiction to me. I also picked up one of the Marlin 1894s in 32 mag before they quit making them. I have to admit that I like my 357 lever action better than the 32.

The 327 didn't appeal to me because brass is even harder to find than brass for the other 32s plus I rarely load my 32 mags to full power anyway. I hate that it seems to be dying or at least is so hard to find. I like anything that promotes more 32 caliber guns.

I hope you find what you are looking for. Get ready to spend lots of money and have the nicest shooting little guns you have ever shot.

...

In SS, 3"/4" what others are there besides the 631 & the sp101? Thanks.

327 Brass is no longer hard to find. Mid-South had a lot in last month.
Look for the 4" Charter Arms Target tracker if you want a shooter. 4", adj sights, ss, and the grip is a little larger than a J frame.
If you are after a shooter 32, look for an older j frame or hand ejector in 32 long. There is not that much difference between the 32 L & the H&R and they make some fun shooters. I currently own a 4" Hand Ejector in 32 L, 5 1/2" Ruger SS in 32 H&R and the 327 Charter Arms 4" Target Tracker. All are fun to shoot.

I picked up a 4-inch 16-4 in September 1991 sort of on a lark -- I paid $293.50 with tax. Three years later I saw a lightly used 6-inch 16-4 in a local gun shop for $450 -- I passed because it was "too much." I still have the 4-incher and kind of wished I'd sprung for the 6-incher when I had the chance.

You can hold your nose and go ahead and find a Taurus 327FEDMAG snubbie for around $250 if you just want to try one out to see if you really want one. Taurus has dropped it, but parts will never be a problem as it has the same guts as all the other Taurus small frame center fires.

I have one and it takes to a set of Wolff springs very well and will shoot all the 32's without issue. It's a re-loaders delight. I realize it ain't a Smith....but the lock is no issue and at least it's not a Charter.:D

Hatchet Jack, you got lucky, my mad money was spent already when that 631 popped up in the for sale forum. Notice to all of you braggin on those wonderful 32 (and 327) magnum's

I for some reason have not acquired a .327 revolver, I kept hoping that S&W would come out with that 2 inch hammerless 632 plus a K frame .327. At this point I am not holding my breath!!
