Well I made the mistake again of walking in to the Gun Library at the Cabela's here. The have had a S&W .32 Hand Ejector in the case for several months marked at $299. Tonight I broke down and asked to look at it. The finish is pretty much gone, and there is some corrosion in the bore, although the rifling still looks sharp. It's mechanically sound, good lockup, very slight endshake. I asked if they'd come down on it since it had been there so long. It turns out the guy I asked was the manager, and he went in to his back room and came back and said $250. So I went ahead and bought it. Probably not the best deal on the planet but it's a nice piece of history and should be a fun can popper. Maybe even a rabbit now and then. I bought two expensive boxes of S&B 100gr wadcutter to try it out and start the brass collection. Serial number 293xxx and the barrel markings make it a 32 Regulation Police dating from about 1918.

Here are the pictures:

I have a .32 I-frame thats "cosmetically challenged" too but its a good accurate fun shooter. As long as your new baby is accurate and you like it, then thats all that counts. Glad for ya! BTW I love those conversion square grips.

Welcome to the wonderful world(s) of both the S&W "I" frame and the .32 S&W Long. Have the revolver reblued and the barrel's bore checked, and shoot the daylights out of it! The little .32's have long held a fascination for me since the mid 1960's. After purhcasing (and later selling) a couple of H&R revolvers in .32 S&W Long I became entranced, no, addicted to the round's inherent accuracy and low recoil. The .32 H&R Magnum round is an enhanced .32 Long, and I enjoy it immensely. The new .327 Federal Magnum will provide every .32 revolver-loving individual with a wonderful platform from which to launch their favorite .312" diameter pills.

You'll find that your .32 Regulation Police will become a great "partner" on many of your "woodswalking" adventures. The "I" frame is light, quick, and amenable to daily holster carry. Too many of today's outdoorsmen are quick to dismiss the little .32 Long's merits. I think that as a mature, refined, shooter, you'll soon discover what our fathers and grandfathers knew all along. The virtues of the "little .32."

Congratulations on your purchase.

i thought i overpaid for a worn finish/slightly rough bore 32 hand ejector....turns out to be one of my favorite shooters (32 long is a great round btw)
some pits in the bore isn't a death sentence for a revolver....and finish wear is definitely charcter for a gun.....go out and enjoy your reg pol....it may surprise you how much life is left in her!

I took it to the indoor range today and was quite pleasantly surprised. I shot both boxes of the S&B WC ammo, no recoil to speak of and the pistol was much more accurate than I was expecting after a good look down the bore. Here are some camera phone pics:

It seemed to get more accurate as I went on. Maybe I was getting used to the minuscule sights, or the bore was smoothing out. Here it is at 15 yards:

The fliers were my fault. Definitely minute of rabbit if I do my part. All of the above were single action off hand shooting.

I have a 6"in similar condition.Shot fifty rounds;inherent accuracy is great,but that tiny
sight groove wore me out.It now has a Wonder Sight which I highly recommend.I am now trying to decide if I want to have a patridge type front sight made up.You will enjoy your new gun.

I've not heard of the Wonder Sight Wayne, is there a website for them, or a picture?

Thanks
