.327? When did this come out?

I'm being lazy, but gotta ask anyway :D
Does anyone know if laser grips are avaiable for the S&W J frame or the Ruger SP 101 that fould be a little longer than a boot grip; like another poster, I hate having 1 1/2 fingers hanging off of the bottom of the gun...
Thanks!!

If you look at post #8 of this thread you will see a SP101 with full size Crimson Trace Grips (LG-303). I have big hands and they allow me a full hand hold.

In that same post there is a pic of a 632-1 (black finish) with a 642. The 632 in that photo has full sized Crimson Trace Grips on it (LG-305).

Those sized grips are great for shooting & home use but they can be a little big for some when it comes to concealed carry.

The .32 S&W is a round that just never seems to get enough male enhancement. I have had a lot of fun with the .32 S&W, the long, and the H&R mag., but I never have had to shoot a person with one. I think the .327 would probably work out pretty well for that in a good carry popper like the SP101. However, if you want one, I think you had better be getting it. It doesn't seem that it is going to have legs enough that makers will produce a wide range of arms in the caliber. As a carry round, it has to be chosen by folks who, for whatever reason, don't want to use a .38 Sp. or .357, and then also reject a .380 or .32 ACP. I wonder if there are enough wives and sisters of revolver enthusiasts who know the score to provide a sufficient market for the .327. I do not know.

I have been looking long and hard at the .327 FMag. I like it. But I do not like the Ruger DA pistols enough to buy one. In a Single-Six... I'd whip my wallet out so fast they'd have to send me to the ER to have my broken arm set and put in a cast! What I really really would like is a K-Frame in .327 w/ a RB and fixed sights... or even a full-sized K-Frame along the lines of the Combat Masterpiece... 4" barrel w/ adjustable sights, square butt, etc. I think it is a revolver and caliber that I would very much enjoy. In fact... I'm seriously considering having a plain Jane .38 Special (K-Frame of course) rebarreled/recylindered in .327 FMag. I just haven't made my mind up as to who I will have do the work. Also... blued steel or stainless... lugged barrel or whatever? So much to consider!

The above are also what I'm waiting for, maybe in vain, but I'm waiting just the same.

A 3" K-Frame with fixed sights would have me in the ER with brucev and
while there we could talk guns while waiting to get our casts & slings. ;)

Freedom Arms would probably be glad to make one for you;)

That's were I bought a bunch of primed 327 Fed primed brass. They are Wildcating a cartridge and necking the 327 down to be loaded with 22 cal bullets. ZING!! (224-32 FA)

The problem I have with the .327 is that I keep hearing "you can fire a .32 H & R Magnum in it" but just how many people have one of those? If you have a .32 Magnum, how often do you see ammo for it? Most guys handload because of that. I only know one person who really likes it and he carries a little Ruger .32 H & R birdshead single six. To me the .327 solves a problem that bever existed. A .32-20 is more my liking and can be found in Smith's, Colts, and many replicas. But the point really is that there is nothing that the .327 can do that the .38 Special does not already do. Recoil in the .38 Special, none in light loads and even non +P loads.

I have a 442 much worn from carry and shooting. It is THE pocket revolver that never gets left at home due to bulk and weight.

As to single-action shooting with your defense revolver, DON'T.
An extremely well trained and practiced shooter can manage it under fire, but for the average person, it is an accident waiting to happen when stressed. Combine a cocked revolver with a finger in the trigger guard while looking for the prowler, and the shot is likely to be the wrong time and direction.

Great point...i hadn't thought about that. I don't have much experience at all with revolvers, but last time i was messing around with my dad's old .38 special (5/5.5" barrel) i was AMAZED how sensitive the single action trigger pull was. Didn't have time to do it but i immediately wanted to go shoot the thing because it was one of the best and most crisp breaks i had ever handled before.

So SA/DA defense snub for my sister is out, thank you.

I do like the variety of rounds that you guys have mentioned the .327 can handle. Very interesting indeed. How hard is it to find at these in stores tho? If you're not going to reload, i always like knowing that there's a place like walmart or the local sporting goods shop where ammo can be picked up. Kinda like why you never have to worry about last minute ammo for your 30-06, .270, or .308 on a hunting trip if it's lost.

Is there really a lot of differance between the .327 and .32/20? This may be a dumb question, but looking at published MV/ME figures I can't see that much. Although the ability to fire .32 S&W, S&Wlong, and H&RMag is a advantage.

Look at the ballistics. The 327 Federal is a much hotter round and more energy than any 38 special. You also get 6 shots from a J frame rather than 5. The recoil is less than a 357 Mag and approaches the terminal energy of the 357.

The numbers do not copy and paste well. The bold is energy at the muzzle.

And just about as doomed to wander in the wilderness away from ever achieving great things in the way of sales. But that doesn't keep me from liking both calibers :D

Guys who like the .41 Mag (like my LGS owner) seem to REALLY like the .41 Mag.

The .327 might lend itself to something like an 8 shot K frame?
