... A buddy offered to sell it to me for $650. He bought it new and it's been fired 12 times. He didn't like the recoil. Comes with box and papers. I don't really have any need for it but it's a nice looking gun. Deal or No Deal?

I'd jump on it, and I already own 2 of them. The price is right for a very nice if limited purpose handgun. My personal feeling is its the best 44 Special they've ever built. It does have the capability of firing 44 magnum loads. The question is, are you man enough to do it? :) Most of us who own them discover its kind of unpleasant with full power loads. If you handload, you can tailor your ammo up to your level of pain. Or you can just shoot 44 Special ammo to your hearts content.

Its the kind of gun you can carry on your hip all day long, day after day, and not regret it.

I have had one for several years now and really enjoy it! Like RBURG stated - it's one of greatest 44 specials you could hope for! I've played around with a number of different grips and have finally come to Pachmyar Compacts as being my favorite. They do cover the backstrap of the grip which seems to lighten the effect of heavier loads. I think I could shoot my Special 250 Keiths all day without suffering but full house magnums do hurt! $650 is a good deal. Do It!

$650 sounds like a good price. I paid $700 used at a gun shop ... plus tax.

I carry Buffalo Bore 185 grain Heavy .44 Special JHP. These shoot the 185 grain bullet at 1190 fps, or about 580 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. I load a 200 grain Gold Dot HP to about 1140 for about 575 ft-lbs of muzzle energy.

I carry this revolver with me when I go fishing up into the Sierra Nevada mountains ... light to carry, and packs a punch. The last two chambers are loaded with 300 grain Hornady XTp's. If I get to those I doubt the pain from firing them will my biggest concern.

Sounds like a deal to me. I had a 329 but sold it to a friend (hiker) that wanted it. I think it was around $650.
I liked it but that thing kicked worse than my 4" 500. IMO, it has limited purpose... carry a lot, shoot a little.

Go for it, if you don't like it you can sell it later on for more than you paid for it.... I agree with what jack said, "carry a lot, shoot a little".
It is a master blaster with .44 MAG when you need it, and fun to shoot with .44 Specials.
