I just received a NIB 340 M&P .357 from S&W yesterday. This was sent to me to replace my beloved 337 Ti that I sent in for a problem. The factory said that it could not be repaired since they no longer make that frame! I had them send me a 340 to replace it.

What should I be cleaning it with? I had read several times in the forum about special cleaning procedures for the scandium guns with the clear coat finish. I am not sure about the 340 M&P. My 337 had been carried for many years in my pocket and in a fanny pack. It had some of the finish missing at the muzzle etc. What are you supposed to clean these with?

Thanks much,

Tom

Clean it how you normally would I'd say.

I carry a M&P340 daily and other than some edge wear its fine. I lube mine up every now and then and that is it.

cleaner

When I had a M&P360, I used Hoppes Elite to clean it. I learned to use this stuff on a gun forum. Never had any problems with it. You can't use anything with ammonia in it.

I think the ammonia restriction is for the titanium cylinders; a M&P should have a stainless cylinder with black (ion bond?) finish.
