340PD Lanyard Pin Diameter?

I've already managed to loose this or it didn't come back with the gun when I got it back from it's barrel replacement. Does anyone know the diameter of the aluminum pin so I can just fab one?

Mine went AWOL years ago and I replaced it with a piece of pant hanger that you get from the dry cleaners - the ones with the cardboard tube. Snip a piece to length (5/16") with a pair of cutting pliers, drop it in the hole and put the grips back on.

Not much fabrication required and no one will notice!

Shipping is probably more than the cost of the part. You can probably make 40 of them out of one free hanger. It's plenty strong and virtually indistinguishable without removing it and looking really close. Besides, I can't imagine may folks actually attach a lanyard to their gun.

Yep shipping just went up again. I use those usps small flat rate boxes. Even when I print the label from stamps .com it costs me 9 bucks each now. But I eat a buck on every label and have kept my shipping at 8 bucks though

After and hour of searching I found a suitable stock material. Not having a full set of number and letter size drills I did find that 5/64 seems to be the win. Not wanting to use steel or anything else that might corrode or react I wanted to stay with aluminum. Low and behold I had some 1/8 aluminum pull rivets that had a 5/64 shaft. A quick snip and file and done. I did put a dab of loctite on each end of the pin to keep it from falling out when I take the grips off.

Looks good. I don't want anything that can catch or snag on anything in my pants (and yes, I keep gun pocket completely empty) so those go BYE-BYE on mine. Murphy's Law paranoia I guess.

Glad to hear that there are innovative solutions if that pin goes AWOL, but who actually uses that lanyard pin?

Have you tried contacting Smith & Wesson about getting a replacement lanyard pin? They are usually pretty good with sending out stuff like that in my experience.

Nah, I figured it would be easy enough to replace. I made the assumption it was a driven interference fit type pin that didn't just fall out and was surprised when it was missing. I can't see ever really needing a lanyard for it but I like the fact that it's there.
