The crane on my 340PD will move forward slightly when dry firing or live firing the gun. I have to push on the yoke to move it back into the frame.

The movement is very slight. However this doesn't seem normal to me. This is a new gun less than a year old. About 200 rounds through it. Should I contact S&W? Thanks for any help all.

Check to see if the yoke screw is tight. If so, check the integrity of the spring loaded detent at the bottom of the yoke screw. This detent is under spring tension and the "pointed" plunger acts on the cutout at the end of the yoke stem. This tension holds the yoke in position (back) when the screw is installed and is functioning properly.

Armorer951 yes the screw is tight and the assembly was sent to me by s&w a couple months back. I forgot to mention that in my OP,sorry. What else could it be then? Thank you.

Insert the yoke into the gun without the cylinder and install the yoke screw. With the yoke closed, it should be held back firmly under spring tension. (provided by the yoke screw)
Also, check the inside edges of the "V" shaped cutout on the yoke stem for damage. ( look at it with a magnifier)
