Hello,

I've been trying to purchase a 357 Sig barrel for my FS M&P 40 for a very long time but am yet to have any luck finding one.

I've been on the wait list with MidwayUSA for as long as I can remember and they seem to be the only store that I know of who actually stock the barrel:

Smith & Wesson Barrel S&W M&P 357 Sig 4-1/4"

But I just can't see them getting this barrel in. Does anyone know where I could purchase this barrel?

Thanks for any help!

Dave.

Even if you are able to locate and purchase a 357 Sig barrel, it may be just as difficult to locate the 357 Sig ammo to go along with it unless you know where you can get your hands on it. I haven't seen that stuff in quite some time.

Here's an aftermarket 4.25 Sig .357 barrel from fleabay:

Storm Lake Performance Barrel for Smith Wesson M P 357SIG 4 25" | eBay

And here's a complete slide and barrel (albeit too pricey for my taste):

Complete Smith and Wesson M P 357 Sig Slide Barrel Upper Sight Fit 9 mm 40 SW | eBay

Thanks for your reply LoneWolf66.

I've had 357 Sig ammo for a while. It's been waiting in my ammo box. I bought it around the same time I joined the wait list for the barrel.

And thank you for your research Tony2much!

Unfortunately, those costs are a little too much for me. I'm really hoping to find a factory replacement barrel which usually sell for half that price.

With the fast fading popularity of the .357Sig round, I would 'guess' the bbl prices will only go up.
However, many are looking for .357Sig ammo for the same reason.
Myself, I'd consider getting a price for the rounds while you can or shopping around for a .357Sig pistol you would like.
I was given a Glock 32, years ago and enjoyed it a lot.

I have a feeling that a factory barrel is not likely to be in your future. My recollection is that they discontinued that variant, so they have virtually no reason to make or have the barrels.
If you are REALLY brave and want to make a cold call to try your sales skills, NCHP is trading in their M&Ps, and I would guess they had some spare barrels. Maybe you can see if they surplussed any barrels and you can buy one.
Other than that, it's aftermarket and fitting a barrel for you.

I snagged one up from Speed Shooter Specialties a little over a month ago.

What's odd is, our local Sheriff's Tactical Response Team and the Highway Patrol are currently carrying Sig Sauer handguns with the 357 sig round. I heard it is so anyone on the streets wouldn't be interested in stealing the ammo or getting thier hands on it since they most likely would have 9mm handguns and not 357 sig handguns. Not sure if this is actually true or not but sort of makes sense a little.

I have a KKM 357 barrel in my M&P 40L. It works great and is very accurate. Also have several other 40 caliber pistols that I use Storm Lake 357 barrels in. They also work great, haven't had problems with any of them. They cost a little more than factory S&W barrels, but are readily available from several outlets. I use the 357 Sig for work because it's a proven stopper, in our agency and others, and it's very accurate. I doubt many thieves would pass on stealing a gun or ammunition because of the caliber......

I bought one from Speed Shooters about a year ago. Another LEO friend of mine gifted me with several thousand rounds of .357 Sig Gold Dot JHP ammo when his agency dropped the .357 Sig for .40 S&W.
