Does it say Made in U.S.A. on the right side of the frame? That stamping started c. May, 1922. It would help bracket the assembly time frame; the gun still could have shipped quite a bit later for the reasons stated by others.
427463 shipped 12/22. It is not unusual for fairly close-together SNs to have shipped months apart as S&W did not ship in SN order. It's fairly certain yours was made in 1922. S&W would not have called it a Model of 1905 at that time, to them it was an M&P. They ceased using the "Model of 19xx" nomenclature prior to WWI.
