Will the Federal Classic Hi Shok, not hydrashock, in the 38+p 125gr load expand
from a 1 7/8" Model 36?

Don't know, but if you put four layers of denim in front of a milk jug and it fails to expand, I'd be the first to say look elsewhere. I don't think you'll have to though. That's an old, but well designed bullet. I'll bet it's a winner and pops open.

Put the bullet in the right place in the first place and you won't have to worry about expansion. A FMJ will kill just as quickly if you hit the vitals. The military has been killing enemies with FMJ handgun bullets for over a century with no problem. Some times I think we lose track of what we really need to concentrate on: marksmanship. And yes, I have read ALL the published material and articles about bullet expansion and wound ballistics for the past 35 years. I still say there's not enough emphasis on marksmanship, and too much time spent worrying about equipment.

I see and hear great things about all these defensive rounds but my thought is that a jacketed, flat tipped round out of my .40 S&W will killem just as dead, BTW can anyone tell me how to go about making a racegun out of my SW99?
