Greetings,

I have a couple of boxes of Hornady 110 gr XTPs and would like to load 38 Spl +P's with them. I have Unique and HP38 (231). I would like to duplicate, approximately, the factory velocity of 995fps from 4 inch revolver. Unfortunately, my Lyman Cast Bullet handbook doesn't have any loadings for jacketed ammo.

Any suggested loadings?

Thank you

If you are using Hornady bullets, I would suggest a Hornady manual. Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook is just that; a handbook for cast lead bullets, not jacketed. Lyman's 49th should have data for jacketed bullets, but you are normally better off using the bullet manufacturer's data...

Hodgdon is showing this on their website for that combo,

Hodgdon HP-38 .357"dia 1.455"oal 5.9gr 1,155fps 18,700 CUP

Test bbl was 7.7" so you might loose some velocity from that number. That is the max listed, do not exceed.

Yes, Hornadys manual lists +P data for the 110 XTP bullet with Unique and HP 38 along with other powders.

Amazing what information can be found in manuals;)
