.380 in a 547

Probably will not work, as the 380 is a straight case while 9mm is tapered and much wider at the base. Might be possible in a 9mm designed for moon clips ( which the 547 was specifically designed not to use) but can’t see any point in it

The answer there is reloading your own ammo. You can create a very light minimal recoil load no problem. If reloading is not an option for you, look for something like the critical defense lite ( they offer a 90 grain 9mm) or some of the old long discontinued Remington 88 JHP ammo. Basically a 380 weight bullet in a 9mm case. Of course these both offer higher velocity but should still be more manageable recoil wise.

Is it possible/safe to fire .380 in a S&W Model 547 9mm revolver? Don’t own one. Just curious.
The last guns I remember being capable of doing that were the Phillips & Rodgers Medusa...It could chamber and and fire about 25 different rimmed, semi-rimmed or rimless cartridges...A unique firearm for sure...They were produced in Huntsville, about 30 miles north of Conroe where I built my gun store...I remember Roger Hunziker coming to Shooter's Station one day and demonstrating the gun on our indoor range...I think I bought a few to see how they sold, and sales were not great, so I didn't restock...

If I could have looked into the future I would have kept them for myself...They are collector items today... :geek: ...Ben
