I am sure this has been covered somewhere, but I am new to list and have not found in search - so can someone point me to a thread or can someone answer a basic question of which Factory S&W 9mm single stack mags interchange and how to distinguish between them

Also looking for source of same or good reliable aftermarket mags for 39-2, 439, and 3913

Thanks in advance, ACEd

39-2 and 439 magazines are longer than the 3913 magazines. The longer magazines will fit, but stick out the bottom. I don't recall if there are single stack magazine adapters.

The longer magazines will function fine.

I advise against aftermarket magazines for any single stack 9mm Smith. None of them are reliable. You might have to search a bit, but there are new and used OEM magazines out there.

Keep an eye on the accessories for sale part of this forum. the factory mags are on there for sale often. There was an active listing there just a couple of days ago.

Along with the accessories for sale on this forum I have found both the 8 and the 9 round mags at Robertsons Trading Post. They advertise on the big auction site but I have had more success by calling them. And there are spacers available for the 9 round mag use in the 3913. If you look through my postings I asked the very same question not so long ago.

Thanks all - I think I have succeeded in acquiring some mags both for my 6906 and for the 39-2 and 439 - will see when they arrive

For my 3913, I only use factory S&W 3913 mags. The don't seem too hard to find out there, with typical lower prices ranging around $40. I got a couple extra Pro-Mag brand ones with my pistol, but they aren't reliable (range-use only). Never tried the Triple-K brand, so can't comment on those.

If you have gun stores you frequent, see if they have old mags in boxes or bins. Several I frequent have those boxes and you can ask to look through them. Sometimes you find these older hard to find mags at a good price that way.

Use only genuine S&W magazines. Triple K and ProMag made, and ProMag still makes, magazines for the 9mm single stack S&W's, but I would not use them for any serious work. As far as I know, MecGar has never marked any magazines for the single stack S&W 9mm pistols.
