3953 trigger reset question

I recently bought a 3953 and was curious about the trigger reset. Mine makes a double click as the trigger is released. The first click is around where a TDA would reset for single action. The second is at the end of the trigger's travel arc. I did a search and discovered an older thread that indicated this was normal on the DAO guns.

My question is, can the trigger be worked on to eliminate the first click? I'm used to releasing the trigger until I feel a click and then squeezing the trigger again, but this doesn't work with the 3953. I have other DAO handguns, but none of them have a trigger like this. I'm positive I could get used to it with training, but I'm not sure I want to since it is so different. If I could have the trigger modified to be smooth throughout the travel arc, it would not cause me any problems.

If anyone can enlighten me on this subject, I would be grateful.

I've only worked on 2 of the DAO guns and never noticed the issue you cite. On the other hand, one of the major things I was doing was installing a trigger stop to eliminate the 3/16" of overtravel on those 2 guns. This would probably take care of your problem.

I expect the first click you hear/feel is the disconnecter resetting. You might try gluing a pencil eraser to the trigger to act as a temporary overtravel stop and see what happens.

tk13; could you provide a link to this older thread? I just got a 1086 that does exactly the same thing. Can this be normal???

Anyone else?

thanks!
