4 inch Model 65-3 cleaned and oiled

Hey all Benjamin here.

I pulled this out of the safe and was doing a little TLC. Got it from a local gun store that said it was a Virginia State Trooper's sidearm. I know many agencies issued this revolver but couldn't find anything in VA. Any info would be appreciated. I believe the manufacture date is 1989.

Recommendations on grips depend on your hand size. A grip adapter by Tyler or BK may be all you need. Bill Rogers' grips, last made by Safariland, are the very best for some. Hogue and Pachmayr make great grips for at least a couple of different hand sizes, the former in wood as well as rubber. Usually cheapest at LGS, because you can try them before you buy them.

I would go with a BK grip adapter to start. Your LGS might have a box of used grips somewhere under the counter or in the back of the store, and if so that’d be the next place to look for something that feels good.

Of the current off the shelf offerings, I prefer the Hogues.
