I recently purchased a used 4006 and it has a problem with the decocking safety on the slide. It is easy to go from "fire" to "safe" but going from "Safe" to "Fire" exhibits a problem.
The lever sticks about half way thru its travel and requires significant force to overcome this sticking point. The safety has some laterial movement and it seems to help moving the safety from to side to overcome the sticking point.
A close examination of the slide bottom at the safety shows the stopping point to be caused by the round barrel of the safety stoping at the point where the firing pin hole opens.
Any idea what could be causing this?.
I have also read comments on this forum that S&W honors a lifetine warranty on these pistols even though the manual indicates a one year warranty - is this correct?
Thanks again for your response
