I received a M&P today that I bought on GB. Closed auction now, still viewable, #1006655580 if anyone cares to look. Really nice condition with nearly 100% case on hammer and trigger. Matching serial numbers S 922362 on the gun, so 46-47? I would have thought it would have magnas but does not. The right grip has a number lightly scrawled in pencil that I cannot quite make out but MIGHT be matching. The grips fit very well so would they be original or long ago replacements for magnas? Thanks for any enlightenment.

Thanks. The flat side plate screw made me think that it originally came with magnas but they must have been replaced long ago because there is no indication on the metal that it ever wore larger grips as is often seen. They are in great shape and fit very well so I will leave it as is.

Last half of 1947, maybe August or September.

It would have shipped with Magna stocks having the sharp shoulder. And by that time, serial numbers were not written with a pencil. They were impressed into the wood with a die stamp. The stocks on your revolver are from the 1920s.
