I wish I'd known that, the M520 is my Grail Gun. To me, it's perfect. The tapered barrel doesn't make it look "chunky", but the extractor shroud gives it some elegance. The fixed sights are all business. I sort of wish the M58 had been given an extractor shroud.
Like .41 Magnum, there is a dedicated fan club of both the .40S&W and 10mm. I've owned a 10mm since 1992, when Glock first marketed the G20. I never warmed to the Glock, but love the 10mm, and now have a 1911 in that caliber, it's the perfect marriage of gun to caliber, IMO. As for the .40 "Short and Weak", it still beats 9mm hands-down, and is my preferred concealed carry. People complain about it being "snappy" in a compact pistol, but I've never thought it was all that bad.The 40S&W is gasping and 10mm is close behind.
But not in .357 Magnum. It's the only one, which is why I want one. All I collect are P&R magnum revolvers, and it comes in just under the wire, age-wise.S&W has made other revolvers with the tapered 4" barrel, shrouded ejector and fixed sights. But that is for another thread.

I never understood why the 10mm gets compared to .41M. It does match up well with the .357M, though.Yes , the 40 S&W is " short and weak " compared to it's parent cartridge -- 10mm . But , but the 10mm is " short and weak " compared to the 41 magnum , a round the 10mm is often compared to . Regards Paul
I had to laugh. Dad just gave me his 16 gauge bought new in 1951 - he's taken pheasants, ducks, geese, deer, and all kinds of varmints with it and never needed more.
When 38-40 ammo and components are getting discontinued the 41 mag will only have 85 years left.
