Beautiful picture of a stellar carry-pistol. I carry my factory-satin nickel 442 more than any other pistol as it fits my pocket wonderfully. Got a Don Hume pocket holster for it and both are outstanding.

Evening, Photoman44,

Lovely weapon, and just right for it's intended purpose, me thinks! Add a Tyler T-grip, if you have one, and you're "ready for Freddy". Thanks for sharing your beauty with us. Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc

Howdy Doc,

Me thinks you think right! :)

Does anyone know the time range that Smith made 442s in nickel?
I have a 442 (no dash) serial # BRP9XXX and was curious as to the
date of manufacture.

My 442 wears a pair of Eagle Secret Service ebony grips. The black on black looks real good and offers a nice purchase for hotter loads. What an outstanding pocket pistol, I love it.

I bought my electroless nickel 442 in January 1994.

BRP = sometime after 1994. Some other details can help narrow it down. Does your gun have the new style ejector or magnum frame? There were some satin nickel 442 made in 1996 with the new frame and old thumb latch. The satin nickel option was deleted in 1997.

Those ebony Secret Service grips look super nice!
I have a pair on my 66 snub, and everyone who sees them asks about them.

^That looks nice. I've always preferred black grips on black guns, and wood on stainless, but the streaks on those grips complement it well.

Beautiful photo. I love that model. Still plotting how to trade my wife out of hers!

P.S. Here are some of the Smith's in our house

Photoman,

You are going to wear out your very nice 442 just changing the grips. :D

I carried a 442 for years, but now my Mother has it for her use. I'm now carrying a 640-1 .357 mag., but I feel that the 442 is the best of the .38 sp. hammerless models.
