I have a Mod. 28 conversion candidate to .45 Colt, and I always thought that I would like it as a snubbie. Numrich Arms currently has nickeled Mod 25, 3" barrels in .45 ACP. It's easy enough to get the nickel stripped and blue the barrel. But will there be too large a gap in the cylinder window (ala 1917's) or will it set up correctly? I don't mind the mis-mark in caliber, that can be polished off and the bore should be OK. Feedback appreciated.

There is no way to know for sure until you try it. The one I did needed the barrel set back to get the cylinder gap in spec: .004-.006" If you plan to shoot a lot of cast bullets, .008" is not too much, since bullet lube and lead will tend to build up on the cylinder face and cause drag on the barrel if the gap is much less.
