457D

That was just a 30 year old guesstimate , I reached out to a guy that should know the CPD story but very possible, the D series may have a lot more beyond CPD.

Don't pass up Gene & Judes, still there but so many of the " memorable" places have changed or moved on.

The area has done a 180 compared to pre millennial times.
BigDaddy7972 was spot on and yes the response time could be 3 to 5 tomes longer than you would remember, primary reason is that district went from pron 350+ coppers to maybe less than 200 not including O'Hare.
I will say this though, those there now do try their best to do what has to be done with what they have. I was very skeptical 10 years ago when I saw the manpower drain but have seen what I consider a valiant effort under those circumstances.
Tact teams exist but from what I understand. they report to the westside daily and rarely seen at night.

I'm not the seller, and unfortunately, I can't be the buyer, but I did see the 457D for sale.

The ad included the best, and about the only, pictures of a CPD 457D that I've seen.

What I noticed is that the gun has the same sort of hump back trigger that my pre rail 3953TSW has.

This seems to indicate that the gun was not built along the same lines as the 3914DAO that doesn't have that style of trigger.

So, I have to wonder if the 457D has the "second strike" capability that the 3914DAO does?

Inquiring minds want to know. To coin a phrase.

Had to go check mine (VJB03XX) as I seem to have forgotten if it had double strike and it does not.

The only times I avoided Gene's & Jude's were when the Des Plaines river overflowed it's banks and flooded (3-4 ft) inside the joint.
J&D's opened up a couple of days after the water resided.
Mickey D's cleaned up for a month.

Jimmy's Red Hots (Pulaski & Grand Ave) has been my favorite since I was cutting classes at Prosser Voc.

Belmont Heights. The old hood. Moved from there to Norwood Park. 016. Used to be around 400 cops assigned to that District. But now it's now down to -200 and counting. Plus, as you said, most of the tac and gang guys are sent west on the weekends. Now they want to take 5-6 cops (per District ) out of the Districts and send them to patrol the tubes and the L. Jimmy's. The City does not want to hire cops or properly equip them so rather than hire, they detail guys out or pay them OT to work their days off. One day this is all going to come crashing down on them and God help those that buy into the City's bs and have not armed themselves. Jimmy's. I still say that is the best dog anywhere, even better IMHO than Gene and Jude's although they are a close second. Prosser. Went there a long, long time ago.

Great thread on an interesting pistol. Anyone know any Chicago coppers still using a 457D? Regards 18DAI
I bought mine from Ray O'Harrens. We had to sign a list that was sent to S&W for them to produce it in double action only. I carried mine for approximately 8-10 years. After about 10 years, after retirement, I sold it to make room. I'm sorry I did. Although it was a paper weight (heavy).
