Just going to echo that the factory is the best option in my experience for a broken pin. With years of service after a work well done.
I think it may have taken them only 3 months on my repair. And the cost wasn't that much.
Had this happen to about 10-15 years ago. Bought a used 2.5" Model 19 off of GB. I was having light strikes and something about the trigger just didn't feel right. Took the sideplate off and discovered that a previous owner had put in one of those aftermarket spring kits and forced the sideplate back on badly bending the rebound spring pin in the process. Of course when I touched it, it broke off.
S&W did fix it, but I had to pay for it. No warranty on that. Went ahead and had the gun refinished (which it needed) while it was there. S&W inspected the gun, recut the forcing cone and set the barrel back at no extra charge. IIRC it took about 6-8 months to get it back. But the gun was in like new condition.
