LGS has a 459 with a trigger that acts like the mag is removed. (when installed). Could this be related to a broken disconnecter tip? I'm just becoming familiar with the 3rd gens, so 2nd gens should be similar? What are the first things to check?
Thanks, Mike

Probably not the disconnector.
When you remove the magazine, what happens is a plastic plunger under the backsight (left side) pushes down on the ejector which in turn pushes down on the disconnector which in turn pushes down on the drawbar which disengages the drawbar from the sear and prevent the drawbar reaching the pickup or throw notch on the hammer.

When you insert the magazine and it is fully seated and retained by the magazine catch...The mag lifts up the ejector which relieves the downward pressure on the disconnector. The drawbar then pivots upward propelled by the drawbar plunger & spring. Now the drawbar can pull on the sear and engage the hammer notches

So, first thing to look at is the magazine.
Is it the correct factory mag or aftermarket?
Is there excessive wear in the catch notch?
Does the mag seat fully with little of no vertical slop?
Is the magazine catch in the frame damaged or worn?
Is the ejector broken?
Is the drawbar broken?
Is the sear pinned in the correct orientation?
Is there an aftermarket reduced power drawbar plunger spring installed?
Has the drawbar plunger spring been cut or shortened?

Those are the things in order I would look at.

Cheers
Bill
