45ACp Bad Leading

About a decade ago I got a batch of 'bargain' 45 acp boolits cast by some unknown drunk friend of a buddy. 230g RNL they had an odd look about them, almost like a coating/mix of some unknown lube.

Loaded in my 625-8 from the first batch they were not accurate. At .451 I thought they would work fine. I was wrong, and after a few hundred, I discovered the entire length of 5" barrel completely coated with....something.....

I used all my various ointments & cleaners & tricks with bore brushes, etc. Nothing worked to remove the worst center-barrel portion.

Finally had to send to S&W for help, which they did. The tech attached a cryptic note "Use different heads".........

I consigned the remnant of my 'good deal' to the scrap bucket & went to my regular casting source.

It was especially odd, as I've never had lead fouling that I just couldn't clean out with focused attention.
