15 years later, Walmart to launch its answer to Amazon Prime

Walmart is launching a new membership service that it hopes can compete with Amazon Prime. Called Walmart+, it will cost $98 a year, or $12.95 a month, and give members same-day delivery on 160,000 items, a fuel discount at certain gas stations and a chance to check out at Walmart stores without having to wait at a register.

OH BOY, OH BOY, OH BOY:eek:

There's a "Super" Walmart 4 miles down the road. It's right on the interstate. By 1100 hrs it's full of freaks from Chicago's south side. If I have to go there I gotta show by 0800 or risk the freak show. Since the Covid Walmart's out of anything that comes from China, so most shelves are empty. I buy stuff online from Walmart but their scheduled delivery is crazy. Sometimes it shows up days in advance, sometimes days later. Any 1-2 day delivery promise from them is baloney. Right now it takes a $35 order for free delivery. Amazon has always been good about fulfilling delivery promises, especially now since they have their own delivery vans. Any stuff that needs to go back to Amazon goes UPS for free. Walmart returns have to go back to a Walmart store.(AFAIK)

Hows is their TV service? That is the main draw I have to prime. That and the free new book a month to read.

I use Amazon quite a bit, it is amazing how fast it gets to me, we have a new supply outlet nearby. I'm not sure but I think I can get toilet paper delivered to the house cheaper than Costco...not sure. Amazon Prime T.V. is pretty good, I used the Firestick for years then went to a new Cable route that includes Amazon. I get all my books on my Kindle, still stuck there until it dies.

Just saw a post about the FAA approving Amazon to use drones for delivery of their packages. If Walmart gets approved for drone delivery too, soon the sky will be dark with drones and as crashes occur, packages will be just falling from the sky!

Drones over my House?
Are you folks familiar with the Airplanes Cults which appeared in the South Pacific after WWII?
We could wind up with Drone Cults.

On some items I have found better deals at Wally Mart then at Amazon. "free shipping" or direct to store which is not that awful. We do not regular shop at WM. I am not gonna pay any store a yearly fee to be a member of their Club (other than Costco) Do not need to watch old movies or reruns of lame TV show. Do not need ANYTHING the next day.

I used to buy a lot from Amazon but frankly I can't stand their attempts to control / screw me over on shipping if I don't buy Prime. And their prices are frequently not the best.
I really wanted to dislike WalMart but I have found them to have what I want in store and online. I have no problem putting together a 35$ order. I hope WM continues to be a place to get what I want quickly and fairly.
Fork Amazon.
